The Top Chef of the Champlain Valley, an Iron Chef Experience
To benefit the Champlain Valley Agency on Aging

Burlington, VT-  The Champlain Valley Agency on Aging (CVAA) is bringing the hottest trend to Burlington. Shelburne Bay Senior Living and the Lodge at Otter Creek presents the 2nd Annual Top Chef of the Champlain Valley, an Iron Chef Experience to be held August 18 from 6-8:30pm at the Davis Center at UVM to benefit CVAA’s Meals on Wheels and Case Management Programs.

Watch as three top local chefs go head to head creating gourmet culinary creations. Vying for the Top Chef title are David Hoene of Pauline’s Café, Connie Jacobs-Warden of Chow!Bella, and Sam Palmisano of Pulcinella’s. Hoene brings over 20 years of experience embracing the use of local Vermont products and infusing fresh ideas using varied ingredients, seasonings and sauces. Jacobs-Warden describes her restaurant as Mediterranean with an American accent. She began her culinary career at Piaf’s Bistro in Boston’s Wilbur Theater. Palmisano beat 5000 other chefs by taking 1st Place at the National Restaurant Associations’ Annual Meeting Culinary Competition in 2001.

Sean Buchanan of Vermont Public Television’s "Feast in the Making" and Executive Chef of the Stowe Mountain Lodge will emcee and Carolyn Malcoun of "Eating Well Magazine" will be one of the judges. A selection of wines and local beers will be available at a free tasting to demonstrate what types of drinks can be paired with the chef’s creations and how to cook with beer and wine. Music will be provided by Trinity. Silent Auction items will feature many gourmet food products, restaurant gift certificates, cooking lessons, spa packages, and autographed celebrity cookbooks including an autographed cookbook from Paula Deen of the Food Network.
