Champlain Valley Agency on Aging, Inc. (CVAA) is a private, non-profit, United Way organization that supports the efforts of people 60 and older in Addison, Chittenden, Franklin, and Grand Isle counties to remain active, healthy, financially secure, and in control of their own lives.

Our staff and volunteers know how to put older people and their caregivers in touch with a wide range of the services they need to live independently for as long as possible.

Top Chef 3Sam Palmisano of Pulcinella's will try to defend his title as Top Chef at the third annual Top Chef of the Champlain Valley, an Iron Chef Experience to benefit the Champlain Valley Agency on Aging on Aug 10 at UVM's Davis Center. Palmisano will go head to head with Chef Robert Barral of Café Provence and JJ Vezina of the Windjammer Restaurant and Upper Deck Pub.

CVAA Celebrates 35th Anniversary
7 Million Meals Served

The Champlain Valley Agency on Aging is celebrating its 35th Anniversary of helping seniors age with independence and dignity. Over the past 35 years CVAA has served over 7 million meals through Meals on Wheels and Senior Community Meals. The Senior HelpLine has answered over 240,000 calls from seniors and their caregivers. Over 50,000 seniors have been able to retain their independence due to the Case Management and Nutrition Programs at CVAA.

Each spring, the Governor recognizes volunteers for their outstanding community service. These volunteers come from all over Vermont and volunteer for a wide variety of organizations and projects. CVAA is pleased to announce that several of our volunteers received this honor

CVAA Summer Activities

Summer Picnic

Over 160 seniors celebrated the start of the summer season at the First Day of Summer Picnic hosted by the Champlain Valley Agency on Aging and Colchester Parks and Recreation. This yearly tradition continues to grow each year. Record crowds showed up despite chilly and rainy weather conditions. The Dutch Mill catered a traditional barbecue chicken picnic while people enjoyed the music of Sergio. Sergio has added a festive element to many CVAA functions.

CVAA hosts a series of special luncheons through out the summer.

If you've missed this event in the past, don't let it happen this year! The Button Bay Annual Picnic; Thursday July 9th, 10:00am - 2:00pm; promises to more fun than ever. Featuring entertainment provided by "It Takes Two" and a mouth watering summer menu of BBQ Chicken Quarters and all the fixins.  Suggested donation of $5.00. Reservations are required.  Please call Tracey to reserve at 800-642-5119 ext.615. Transportation provided call ACTR 388-1946.

CVAA Recognizes and Thanks Its Volunteers

Over 250 CVAA volunteers attended a series of Volunteer Recognitions held throughout the Champlain Valley to recognize and thank volunteers for their time and dedication to helping seniors in their community.
